Black silk underskirt constructed in 4 pieces with a straight seam at centre front. With gathered waist, centre back, hook and eye closure. The upper section of the skirt is plain and the hem has an additional band of pleated silk and 3 gathered ruffles. The skirt is shaped to be shorter at the front and longer at the back to accommodate a bustle and train. Machine sewn in black cotton thread. The binding at the waist and the fastenings are fixed by hand
