Mr A.C. 'Gus' White (former Chief Permanent Way Inspector, South Wales Ports) presented with a British Transport Docks Board inscribed sherry tray by T.J. Taylor (Industrial Relations Officer, South Wales Ports) to mark his retirement on 1 October 1971 after fifty years of service with the Docks Board and its predecessors. He had joined the Barry Railway Company as an underman in 1921 and had held posts in Barry, Cardiff and Aberavon but had been Chief Permanent Way Inspector since 1956. Other retirement gifts included a stainless steel tea service and a cheque.
