CuA cauldron base sheet fragment with a curved sheet edge. Three small dome-headed rivets and one additional rivet shank are positioned adjacent to the sheet edge. There are no second sheet fragments captured between the rivet heads and the base sheet, indicating that the upper sheet was once attached to the back of the base. The sheet edge has been folded over prior to burial. One break edge has occurred where the sheet was folded over prior to burial. The sheet is badly corroded with bronze disease pocking visible. The X-ray indicates the sheet bronze has a distinctive structure, with a chequer pattern possibly created through hammering. Directly associated with animal bone showing green staining. 2CuA sheet fragments, broken off the base fragment during excavation. They have the same chequer pattern metal structure as the large fragment. Base sheet fragment from a cauldron of multi-sheet construction. Small dome-headed rivets at 13-14mm interval suggests Class B2 cauldron. That the base sheet must have been fixed over the upper sheet in this case, would tend to rule out it being of La Tène multi-sheet globular type (i.e. Type Walthamstow/La Tène). This suggests a Llyn Fawr period date (750-600BC).
