Samian bowl sherd, form Dr 30. A sherd of orange-red slip, with traces of a large-rosette ovolo obliterated in the finishing. There are a series of panels, separated by vertical wavy lines. The first panel contains a medallion in the shape of a laurel wreath. The second panel contains a cruciform ornament saltire, formed from wavy lines. The bottom portion has rows of arrow-shapes and at the top there are lanceolate leaves and a 'bottle-bud'. The sides have a tendril with a spindle / 'corn ear' at the end of a looped tendril. The third panel may be a repeat of the first, although it is incomplete and the device in the spandrel is made from three small circles attached to a short tendril. AD 70-80
