Smock
Coat-type smock made from cotton twill, embroidered with waxed linen thread. Originally the 'best smock' of a gamekeeper from Trefnant. Later acquired by the donor's uncle, who was an artist who lived in Trefnant, for use a model's costume.
Round collar with ten bone button fastening. Two button opening at cuffs. Two flapped pockets. The smocking is done in outline, cable, double wave and wave. The embroidery is mainly in feather stitching around the smocked panels, in lines and waves around the collar, the pocket flaps and down the front button tab. The collar has floral motifs in chain and satin stitches.
