Soup plate, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, cushion-moulded sides, spreading rim, double cruciform moulding to the rim, a shaped edge to the rim; finely painted in polychrome enamels with to the centre of the well two European birds (one a jay) perched on a spreadng branch with berries, around the sides of the well are three butterflies, to the rim in the four spaces between the moulded areas is repeated the design of two European birds perched on a spreading branch, the moulded areas to the rim painted with a scale pattern in puce and festoons of flowers in gilt, to the edge of the rim a border of green diagonal lines between two gilt bands.
