This is a large shaped stone slab, possibly a grave marker.
Description; The stone was placed upright at the western end of rectangular structure 618, among the floor of quartz pebbles during the final phase of the structure's development. It may have been that the structure was subsumed by sand and for many years this upright stone was the only visible element.
The slab has three straight and square edges and one pointed side. The pointed side has quite a shallow point with a pronounced tip, one side of the tip is curved while the other is straight with a protruding point. The surfaces are rough with no surviving traces of engravings. It may be that a decorated top half broke away at some point. It is mudstone, probably locally derived.
Structure 618 A complete diagram of the Structure 618 stones is available in the accession file.
