Group on workmen on the surface at Court Herbert. This colliery in Skewen was operated by the Dynevor Coal Company. The Group shown contains many characters of the day in an informally posed group. The large man in the bowler hat at the back is obviously a man of presence and distinction probably the manager. By the small size of the water jacks carried it was obviously not a warm pit in which to work.
