A poured wax doll. Wax head and shoulder plate, wax arms and lower legs. Wax parts are attached to the hair stuffed torso by string passing through eyelets (unprotected by metal) in the wax. The wax is very pale and the doll’s features makes her look rather expressionless and uncongenial. All painted or inset facial features have faded away, although traces suggest that the doll had real hair eyebrows. The doll has rather piercing blue/violet eyes, black pupils – these being of glass and fixed. The doll has blond hair inset in tufts. It has a thick head of hair held back from the front fringe by a ribbon.
The doll is elaborately dressed in a formal muslin dress enhanced by several rows of lace. A linen petticoat bordered with lace and pantaloons laced similarly.
