Thorndon type socketed knife. Socket end fragment of a socketed knife with breaks along upper blade and across the socket. The socket has concave sides in plan view and the socket forms a straight side with the blade. The socket has an oval shaped cross section and the interior has an even shaped base. The knife once had two rivet holes on each face, placed vertically and separated by 6.5mm. On one face, the lower rivet hole is complete, whilst part of the upper is visible along the break. On the reverse face only part of the lower rivet hole is visible along the break. The blade is heavily corroded, there being no complete cross section and very little original blade edge visible, however the blade has a lenticular shape in cross-section. Original surfaces have a dark green patina and corroded edges are light green in colour.
