The front of this pocket is made of three pieces of satin weave black cotton or cotton mix, the lower piece folded at the lower edge to form the back. The front and back are lined with a ribbed cloth with a hard surface. The opening is bound with leather or an artificial leather material. Accessed through the vertical opening, there is a rectangular pocket and an inner attached clasp purse with one side of its clasp missing. The top of pocket is attached to two vertical tapes through which another tape passes. This waist tape has a rusted two-pin buckle on one end near a four-hole black button inscribed 'T.Wilkinson. 113. Strettford Rd.' There is a corresponding button hole at the other end. This pocket shows a mix of hand and machine sewing. It is one of a group that has evolved from the conventional tie-on pocket to include the use of a waist band inserted through two vertical tapes, and horizontal openings covered by flaps with press studs.
