Lloyd Best, who wrote and recorded the songs, stated that "Every song on this album was created with the intention of giving myself a voice in a space where I had none. I hoped to contribute to the beginning of change and to tell a collection of stories often untold. Each song documents a specific experience of my journey as a young queer person growing up in South Wales. It's the first collection in what I hope will become a saga of albums, documenting the most important parts of my life and the lives of other LGBTQ+ people."
