Three pots from isolated pit [3138], Phase 2 to the north east of Group 4010.
V90.1 Rim and neck sherd plus small sherd. Had been a medium sized vessel estimated rim diameter c 160mm, wall thickness 7.1-8.5mm. The rim is squared off and the neck is straight and upright. The exterior is decorated with four horizontal incised lines extending from immediately below the rim, and below that is a vertical incised herringbone design. Note, it is closely comparrable to the discussion of a pot from the Barry Atlantic Trading Estate described by with the term 'Beaker/Food Vessel' (Alex Gibson, 1998, 15, 17, fig. 7.11)
V90.2 Was a medium sized pot with a vertical neck and a slightly bulbous belly. Belly diameter is c170mm, wall thickness is c7mm. Decoration consists of one, possibly two, shallow grooves around the lower part of the neck and, on the belly, what had probably been a vertical herringbone design, executed using a broad (c 3mm), rectangular-toothed comb.
V90.3 Was a thin walled (5.4mm) fine pot decorated with paired finger or thumbnail impressions probably arranged in loose columns of 'V's.
