Patchwork quilt from Pembrokeshire. Made in about 1840 by an unknown maker.
Top cover of printed chintz, with a large printed panel depicting an Indian Tree pattern. Predominantly pink and green colours. Linen backing. Quilting pattern consists of an oval central motif containing tulips, spirals, flowerheads and curved leaves within a double chain. The inner border is of large veined leaves and fans, with squares in each corner filled with trellis. The outer border is of large triangular shapes, delineated by chains and filled with petalled flowers, spirals & fir cones. The corners are squares made up of four triangles filled with tulips and spirals. The whole quilt is edged with a border of double chain.
