Cup, earthenware, standing on a waisted spreading rounded foot, rounded curving sides, scrolling ear shaped handle; transfer-printed in brown with the 'Peacock' pattern, to the interior bottom of the cup a small vignette showing books, one of which is inscribed 'BOTANY', and a lute leaning against an urn against a garden landscape with trees and flowers and a distant building, border to the interior and exterior sides of the cup of a small vignette showing a peacock perched on a high stand against a landscape with a country house and trees, alternating with an elaborate rococo floral motif, border of flowers and scrolls to the interior and exterior lip-rim and handle. Saucer, earthenware, circular shape with rounded foot-rim and curving spreading sides, transfer-printed in brown with the 'Peacock' pattern as on the cup.
