Early Medieval whetstone
A crude whetstone a thin pebble of Old Red Sandstone. The right side is markedly dished and the bottom less so through use in this way. The top has a smooth (but not polished) convex surface and may have been used for rubbing. Both ends show traces of battering, which may be recent.
