Cabinet
Known as the 'Hoda Cum Tewdwr Cabinet', a late 19th century cupboard that has been made out of oak heraldic panels dating to the late 16th century.
The cupboard is believed to have been commissioned by the antiquarian, Alan Stepney-Gulston of Derwydd mansion near Llandeilo during the 1880s. The four heraldic carved panels set into the cupboard can be traced to George Owen of Henllys, Pembrokeshire (1552-1613), a notable Welsh author, antiquary and lawyer. Each panel shows Owen's family coat of arms of a boar chained under a holly tree impaled with that of a wife who married into the family. Owen claimed decent from a Norman knight named Lucas de Hoda and the cupboard has been named after the second panel which represents a marriage between de Hoda and a descendant of Rhys ap Tewdwr.
