Iron Age / Roman stone anvil
A wedge shaped boulder with a series of shallow, c.10mm in diameter percussion hollows towards the edge of one face. Each hollow is the result being struck several times by an iron punch or similar tool. This may have been a multi-use stone being useds as both an anvil stone and a saddle quern.
Recovered set in ground adjacent to hearth 2222 in Building B

Nodiadau: Excavations undertaken during the summers of 2019, 2021 and 2022 at Porth-y-Rhaw coastal promontory fort, Solva, Pembrokeshire (SAM PE-273), revealing occupation and finds of Iron Age and Romano-British date. The project was funded by Cadw, the Nineveh Charitable Trust, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and The National Trust. The entire archive for this excavation was created and stored in digital format and is not held by Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales.
