Teapot, cover and stand
Teapot, soft-paste porcelain, standing on a straight-sided foot-rim, globular body, short cylindrical neck, plain curving spout, plain loop handle, round domed cover with flat collar-like rim, to the top of the cover a finial in the form of a raised moulded flower head issuing a moulded leaf on a stem, a pierced steam hole to one side of the cover; painted in reds and blues with an Imari-style design, to the exterior sides of the teapot long curving alternating blue and white panels, the blue panels decorated with white scrolls and foliate motifs edged in gilt, the white with red floral and foliate motifs, the same design repeated to the top of the cover, a band of red scrolls and flower heads around the shoulder and the rim of the cover, delicate red star-like motifs to the spout and handle, a blue band around the base of the teapot, the flower head finial and the moulded leaf to the top of the cover picked out in red and green. Stand, soft-paste porcelain, circular shape with rounded tapering foot-rim, curving sides and spreading rim, a raised edge around the centre of the well, the rim scalloped; painted in reds and blues in the same manner as on the teapot, to the sides of the well long curving alternating blue and white panels, the blue panels decorated with white scrolls and foliate motifs edged in gilt, the white with red floral and foliate motifs, a stylized pink flower head to the centre of the well, a band of red scrolls and flower heads to the rim, a gilt band to the raised edge around the well, a gilt edge to the rim. The stand cracked and repaired.
