Drinking measure used in lifeboat by survivors of S.S. TORTUGUA after being torpedoed in Mid-Atlantic in early 1918.
S.S. TORTUGA (4175 grt). Built 1900. Owned by Elders & Fyffes Ltd., Liverpool & Glasgow. 26 June 1918 torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic 205 miles N.W. 1/4 N from Eagle Island in position 55.50N by the German submarine U156 whilst on a voyage from Liverpool to Kingston, Jamaica in ballast. 12 lost.
