Casgliadau Arlein

Pair of maroon satin shoes, pointed toe. Pleated ribbon decoration on vamp. Toe and sides of uppers decorated with coiled gold wire and sequins. Leather sole. Low and slightly shaped heel, painted gold. Red cotton inner lining and sole. Purchased abroad, in about 1888, by the donor's grandfather who was a captain in the Merchant Navy. They were worn by the the donor's mother.
