Built 1955 by Burntisland Shipbuilding Co., Burntisland for Prince Line Ltd., managed by Furness Withy. She had accommodation for twelve passengers. 1971 – Sold to Intermar Services Co., SA, Panama, and renamed MARIA B., managed by G. Bobolas. On March 20th, 1977 while en route from Las Palmas to Port Harcourt, an engine room fire led her crew to abandon ship. She was observed well ablaze the next day and is assumed to have subsequently sunk. (ref : - theshipslist.com)(red-duster.co.uk)
Laid down as a cargo ship in 1942 by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, but requisitioned by the Admiralty whle still on the stocks and completed in 1943 as a Nairana-class escort aircraft carrier HMS VINDEX (pennant no.D15). In this form she carried a complementof 700 crew. 1947 – Decommissioned and reconstructed for commercial use, she was returned to the Port Line and renamed PORT VINDEX as a reflection of her wartime service – there is no such port as Port Vindex. She was broken up at Taiwan in 1971.
