The landscape of the Gower was a strong source of imagery - much of his work was also inspired by poetry and music: a crowning achievement was the series of paintings and construction on the theme of Debussy's La Cathedrale Engloutie (The Sunken Cathedral))
Mae'r llifeiriant hwn o ffurfiau dynol, anifeilaidd a llysieuol yn ein hatgoffa o dirluniau Swreal gan Max Ernst. Mae Richards hefyd yn archwilio delweddau gweledol sy'n dod â cherdd Dylan Thomas 'The force that through the green fuse drives the flower' i'r cof. Ym 1945 cafodd ei gomisiynu i ddarlunio'r gerdd yn 'Poetry London', a gwnaeth dri lithograff gan ymgorffori'r testun cyfan.
