Trousers, made by Meyer & Mortimer Ltd, Conduit Street, London. Part of a uniform worn by Sir John Arthur Herbert when he was the Governor of Bengal under the British Raj (1939-43).
Black woollen cloth with gold braid stripe down side of each leg. Maker's label stitched inside - 'MEYER & MORTIMER LTD / 36 CONDUIT ST LONDON W / NO 2933 / DATE 1939 / His Ex Sir John Herbert'. Black elastic boot straps on each leg opening.
