Candlestick, earthenware, columnar form with wide spreading base, cylindrical shaft with raised bands around the top and bottom, and a classical vase-shaped sconce with wide flaring rim; the decoration reserved against a black enamel ground so that the red earthenware body is revealed, this then transfer-printed in black, an egg and dart border to the foot-rim and the neck, an elongated egg and dart border to the upper and lower shaft, a radiating tongue border to the base and rim.
