Portrait of Laura Hughes, aged 9, 1813. One of three portraits of the children of William Hughes, a Pwllheli shopkeeper. The paintings are early works by the largely self-taught Hugh Hughes, who had a long career as a portrait and landscape painter in Wales, working mostly for middle class, Nonconformist patrons.
