Wholecloth quilt made in the 1950s by Mrs P.M Jeffreys of Merthyr Tydfil. She was a pupil of the well-known quilter, Miss Jessie M. Edwards who taught quilting classes in Porth and Merthyr.
Mustard coloured cover on both sides, thinly padded. Made up of nine squares of material on each side, handsewn together. Each corner square is matching, with a flower in each corner and a curved feather along each side, filled with a trellis. The central square has a circular feather pattern on a background of trellis. Remaining four panels are mainly floral and leaf designs.
The construction of this quilt is sometimes referred to as 'quilt as you go'. The individual squares have been quilted separately, and then sewn together, therefore removing the need for a large quilting frame.
