The indicator is housed in a wooden box, with hinged lid and handle. Inside the lid is a door on which an information sheet is stuck. On this label is written S.S. CARMARTHEN in pencil. Behind the door in a compartment are a few items to the indicator's operation, including thin ropes, a small metal vial containing tiny brass screws, more information sheets and small graphs. Inside the main box the indicator itself is in a clean condition. There are three very short wooden rulers in 2 small compartments.
