Phryswith Matthews (seated on the right) on a beach with two friends or relatives.
From a collection of photographs formerly belonging to Flora Phryswith Matthews of Ty Nant, St Fagans. Known as Phryswith, she was the daughter of Thomas Matthews, the village wheelwright. During the First World War, she served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) nurse at the 3rd Western General Hospital in Cardiff.
