Bust of John Wesley
This is one of two recorded Llanelli busts of Wesley. It is based on a well-known bust modelled from life by Enoch Wood in 1781, and subsequently made in his Burslem Pottery and copied by many other manufacturers.
Shoulder-length bust of John Wesley, standing on a hollow, stepped, pedestal base, the shoulders moulded with swathed ecclesiastical garb, around the neck, a two ribboned collar, his head be-wigged, the face with a stern expression, the chin, slightly raised; the base, painted reddish brown with a stippled effect to resemble a wood such as mahogany, the shoulders enamelled in black, the collar, white, the wig of a pale grey, the face with the eyebrows and eyes detailed in black, the lips red.
