A date of the work might be useful. Odo went to Jamaica to live (I believe) in the late 1940's or early 1950's after his book 'The Snail that climbed
the Eiffel Tower' was published by John Lehmann. John Minton illustrated this book and (I believe) visited his in the 1950's when on an assignment for Vogue magazine.
