Llong bren oedd y GLASLYN oedd yn pwyso 763 tunnell gros, a chafodd ei hadeiladu ym 1873 neu 1876 gan gwmni Pembroke Dock Co-operative Shipbuilding Ltd. ar gyfer Evan Jones & Co., Caerdydd. Brodor o Afonwen, Gwynedd, oedd Jones, ac roedd yn berchennog llongau ym Mhorthmadog cyn symud i Gaerdydd tua 1865. Erbyn 1880, roedd yn berchen ar dair llong sylweddol, gan gynnwys y Glaslyn. Collwyd y llong ym 1865, ond aeth Jones ymlaen i brynu llongau ager. Daeth y cwmni i ben ym 1924.

Dear Michael Pearson,
All we can find is reference to a Jakob Meyer, working in northern Germany in the 1840s, which may not really help! We could maybe find out more information if you were to send an image of the painting, however this might well be a reproduction as it originated from China.

Greetings, Thank you for posting the photo of the oil Painting of the Glaslyn. I very much appreciated the background information on the ship and its service record. I recently purchased a painting of the same ship reverse painted on glass. It lists the painter as O. Lew.is Mayor or MAYBR? The paint had bled a bit. Do you know of an artist with such a name. The piece of art is framed in The Peoples Republic of China. So it may be a reverse glass reproduction of the original for marketing purposes. I think that my item is quite nice and will enjoy it in our home. Thank you once again. Michael Pearson P.S. My wife's Warren family comes from Cilian Aron, Cardiganshire, Wales. The old home where her relations lived in the early 1800's is apparently a Bed and Breakfast today.

This is an unusual description of the barque Glaslyn. Unusual in the sense that the barque was built in 1873/1876 but was lost in 1865. How unusual is that?
